Computational Fabrication Research Pod (Summer 2024)
Jin, S., & Cardoso Llach, D. (2025). “A Minimal Making Grammar”. CAADRIA 2025, accepted abstract.
Summary: This research explores an innovative bottom-up design approach using Shape Grammars, aimed at creating flexible and reusable 3D lattice structures with minimal fabrication requirements. By developing a system centered on a single, simple unit referred to as the "seed shape," the research demonstrates how modular, interlocking assemblies can be achieved without fasteners, adhesives, or curing time. The fabrication approach highlights the potential for scalability and resource efficiency in computational design. The abstract has been accepted for presentation at CAADRIA 2025 in Tokyo.
